Brad’s LLMs – Storywriter Session

In a Storywriter Session, we will get a private, local LLM running on your PC. I will show you how to create a new, delightful story every night that you can read with your kids.

(1) 30-minute session with you on a Zoom. $30.

Brad’s LLMs – Personal Session

In a Personal Session, we will get a private, local LLM running on your PC. I will show you how it can give you great answers. We’ll talk about good uses and bad uses of LLMs and try them locally.

(1) 2-hour session with you on a Zoom. $200.

Brad’s LLMs – Pro Day

For a Pro Day, we will get everyone on your team running a private, local LLM on their PCs. We will talk about how your team is using LLMs and pitfalls to watch out for. We’ll build some apps in your web browsers for useful LLM tasks.

I use PayPal to process payments. You will be paying Hutchings Software. When I receive notification of your payment, we will contact you to schedule a time or times for your session. Additional information and instructions are below.

All Calls

I will reach out to your by email to the email address associated with your PayPal account by the end of the next business day to schedule a Zoom call with you. You should plan to take the Zoom call on the PC on which you intend to run the Brad’s LLMs software.

Brad’s LLMs run on:

  • Windows and Linux PCs with 16GB or more of RAM and a recent Intel i7, i9, or comparable CPU.
  • macOS with Apple M1 or later CPU and 16GB unified RAM.
  • Smaller models (e.g. 4B-ish and smaller) run on Raspberry Pi 5 with 8GB RAM.

If you don’t have Brad’s LLMs installed, I will walk you through installing them as the first item of the call. Learn more here.

Storywriter Session

In this 30 minute session, I’ll teach you how to use Brad’s LLMs to make great stories you can read with your kids. Relevant reps make great readers! Create something new and interesting for them to read with you every day.

We will cover: installing Brad’s LLMs, making bookmarks, making stories, and printing. It’s not comprehensive, but it will make you the coolest parent on your block!

This is priced well below my regular rate because I want to help parents get involved and help their kids become great readers. Literacy is important to me and it starts at home.

Personal Session

We will discuss how everything you see with LLMs is an illusion. That’s not a bad thing! You can understand how the illusions work and even perform them yourself. Once you’re comfortable approaching them this way, you can be confident that they won’t fool you. If you are a Penn & Teller fan, that’s the vibe with LLMs I want to create for you — appreciate the art of illusion!

We’ll talk about how you use ChatGPT or other cloud LLMs now, and how you can get as good results on your private, local LLM. They’re just not as annoyingly loquacious. You will see that there are many illusions you have to actively buy into to think that ChatGPT is somehow “better”. You will be surprised.

I have found with many of my clients that some activities they do or want to do with ChatGPT and other LLMs are not intellectually sound. I’ll point that out. I won’t judge you. I’ll just inform you and see if we can work together to find better problems for you to solve with LLMs.

I’ll disabuse you of any notion that prompt engineering matters. It arises because of the chat illusion and because public cloud systems have a guard rails responsibility. Your private local LLM is much less constrained and requires very little special prompt magic.

Pro Day

Pro Day customers, we will discuss your business’ AI efforts, and I’ll share my evaluation. I know that, especially in business right now, people are expecting LLMs to do things that they are not designed to do and that they do not do well. This includes “analyzing documents”, performing “customer service”, and automating routine tasks. I get that you’ve been promised that these activities can be done with LLMs and AI.

LLMs are good for creative tasks, of which there are many in business settings. We don’t need to rely on third party clouds to do them. We don’t need to upload proprietary data or customer information to do these things.

My super power is helping teams save face when they realize they overdid it with these tools. We may not be able to fix a broken idea, but we can learn from it and look good doing that.

I am excited about LLMs and helping people become effective users of them. You may have other avenues you want to explore. You’re the customer buying my time, and I’m eager to explore those avenues too!
